Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family-related matters. She concentrates a large portion of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes divorce property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions, as well as concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 she assists parties in helping to resolve their issues without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediation for those who wish to avoid litigation and court processes.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to legal research and scholarship.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases dealing with child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts played a crucial role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the care of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice transcended her legal career as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law such as divorce custody, child support and guardianships, as well as estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the commitment to provide an individual approach to every client's need.
